This is the name of the god of sleep. And, as you already know, José has Cordoban roots, specifically from the town of Almedinilla. And in this town, some years ago, they found a Roman statue of Hypno, who is the personification of sleep.
Hypnos, in the form of a winged boy, swiftly travels the earth and sea, making other people drowsy, with a horn in his right hand and a bunch of poppies in his left.
The archaeological discovery of this figure has had such an effect on the town that it has become known as the ‘land of dreams’. That’s why José didn’t hesitate to include clear references to sleep in one of the suites in the Patio del Posadero.
